Joshua
- I love butter chicken and naan because it is a delicious meal that I have eaten since my childhood. It is my favorite meal because of the savory flavors that come from the naan bread and chicken curry!
- A fun fact about me is that I have been playing the piano for 9 years now.
- My favorite Arabic song would have to be "Hadal Ahbek" (only because this was popular on TikTok back in 2020).
- My favorite food show would have to be Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares because of how intense the show can get.
- My preferred nickname is Josh!
Veda
- One of my favorite foods is my mom's tofu coconut curry with roti! The coconut cream makes the sauce so smooth, and the various spices and aromatics go together so well.
- I visited California last summer with my family. It was an exciting trip because I got to visit the town I was born in.
- I don't have a favorite Arabic song, but I would say my favorite band is Cairokee.
- My favorite food related show is the Great British Baking show because my sister and I watched it together growing up. It's part of the reason I love baking now!
Kody

Our Motivation
This blog site is part of a semester project in a course taken at the Judy Genshaft Honors College at the University of South Florida. As a group we chose to explore Yemen's food and culture.
Join us as we take you through a deep dive into Yemen—from the country's rich history and religious roots to its breathtaking architecture and century-old cultural traditions. We'll also share what we learned about notable food mannerisms and dining customs, our take on Yemeni cuisine, and an interview with someone whose family immigrated from Yemen!
Let's go! Yalla يلا!
(“Yalla” is a commonly used Arabic phrase that means “Let’s go!”)
